Nikki Allman £2500 Donation to Burney Breast Unit

"It's not a cyst is it?"

That's the last thing I said before my world was turned upside down, and I entered into a club that no one wants to be a member of.

The next few months were a whirlwind of hospital appointments - CT scans, MRI scans, blood tests, biopsies, followed by a mastectomy in January to remove the 6cm tumour, and radiotherapy sessions shortly after.

Looking back it still seems so surreal. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions from despair to elation quite often on the same day!
One thing I know for sure is that I couldn't have come this far without the amazing treatment and support I received from my team at the Burney Breast Unit at St Helens hospital.

So now it's my turn to thank them and give a little back in return.

Having climbed Ben Nevis and Scafell (many years ago!) I have always wanted to complete the three peaks by climbing Snowdon and now seems the perfect opportunity to do that while raising money for the Burney Breast unit at the same time.

Donations will enable the unit to continue to provide additional specialist items to support patients preparing for and recovering from breast cancer surgery, including post-surgical bras, post-operative drain bags, and prostheses.

I will be climbing Snowdon on 3rd September 2022. Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
After donating, please, please do one more thing .... check your boobs!

If you feel something that doesn't feel quite the same as it did or doesn't feel quite right, please book an appointment with your GP to discuss it. Don't self-diagnose! Breast specialists rely on high-tech equipment to inform their decisions, so don't think you can work out what it could be from your living room!!

Early diagnosis saves lives!

Many thanks for taking the time to read this
